I love Heather Graham. She never fails to give us a story that has more twists and turns than a pretzel. I love her paranormal/love/suspense stories. This one is very creepy, scary, mysterious and exciting. I love stories with old castles in them and this one has a fantastic spooky place. I love her characters. Hattie is one of my favorites in this story. Sometimes, stories have so many characters I forget who is who. I like how Heather gives little "reminders" along the way to remind you who they are; i.e. "Larue, ex-partner of Quinn". The farther I got into the story, the faster I read. Even though this is the second book of the series, you won't be lost reading this book first. Of the two books, Let the Dead Sleep and Waking the Dead, this one is my favorite.

I usually love Heather Graham's paranormal work, but this one didn't seem as good as the first of the series. I don't know if it's the translation to e-book or not, but there were a lot of exclamation points and italicizing in weird places. The story was good, and it could have been me that the story didn't seem as good as the first. My mind has been wandering a lot lately, so, again, it might have been me rather than the story. Paranormal in New Orleans. How bad can that really be? ) Give it a try, though.
This is a good book. Not only did I learn a lot about New Orleans, but the story line was really good. There are 2 other ones in this series and they all are fantastic. I recommend this book to those who like relationship, a good mystery (but not scary) and an easy read. I hated when I got to the end. I wanted it to go on and on!
Gruesome deaths are occurring and they seem to be connected to a painting which, on the surface, seems to be a pleasant scene of family and friends sitting by the fire, engaged in common pursuits.

Before the killing ends, Danni and Quinn and friends will burn corpses and paintings.

Another great read from Heather Graham.
I'm really looking forward t o the next in the series.
I chose this book because I have read all Heather Grahams Krewe of Hunters books and I will read any she writes, Cafferty & Quinn are two characters from one of her Krewe books and I can't wait to see where they go next. These stories have more then just Ghost hunting to keep you reading. Heather is a great writer she writes many types of books but these are my favorite stories and if you like reading about the paranormal I recommand you try Heather Grahams, Krewe of Hunters series. Have a good time reading, I can't wait foe the next book to come out.
Danni and Quinn are together again...awww, you knew that was coming, so no news there. This time there's a rather mysterious painting that could be the key to some very strange happenings in New Orleans. Is that enticing or what? Beware if you suddenly find yourself in an unexplained fog. Are you curious yet? Reading this book was so much like watching a really good [sometimes corny] movie but each page makes you want to know what's going to happen next. I like all of the characters, so it was fun to read. Sit back and enjoy.
This was a good book, in a great series. I read #3 first, so some things weren't surprising. A man has kept secret from his daughter that he was a collector of artifacts of the supernatural kind. She is stunned to realize the father to whom she felt so close had lied to her all these years.But the items he collected had to be hidden due to the power they could provide an evil-doer. The predictable part is that she falls for her father's partner.The story goes back and forth, so you see both points of view.But I will say this I'd advice reading them in order because the cast of characters grows with time.
Danielle Cafferty &Michael Quinn now there is an interesting couple. They become entangled in the adventure that scares the hell out of both of them. This venture involves an old Painting that presumably takes hold of people and causes them to do it's bidding. Why and is it really the portrait doing this? Danielle and Michael team up again in this 2nd in the series and try to solve the mystery while trying to deal with their personal relationship. The people around them ( their team) are fun and interesting. Loved this book
